[ARCHIVED] Park County Road Projects Update - August 8, 2024

Public Works Update Aug 8

Park County Public Works will provide regular updates regarding road projects and maintenance taking place across the county. 

Special Projects

Elkhorn (CR15) 

Project Overview: CR15 also known as the Elkhorn or Elkhorn Road, number of miles, describe why we are doing this 

Updates: The county gave the contractor a final checklist to complete on July 22, 2024. They completed the final checklist and the county signed off on the project on July 31st, 2024. A final packet for the project is being put together to be released to the public and encompasses the entire project scope. 

Timeline: Project successfully completed on July 31, 2024. 

11-Mile Road Reclamation 

Project Overview: Improvements focus on: CR59, CR92, and CR90. Roads will be getting 2 inches of new road base milled in with 2-4 inches of existing chip seal and base. Mag chloride will be mixed in throughout the new and existing material to create a solid road base.  

Updates: CR59, CR92, and CR90 will be getting 2 inches of new road base milled in with 2-4 inches of existing chip seal and base. Mag chloride will be mixed in throughout the new and existing material to create a solid road base. CR59 has been re-graded for proper crown and drainage.  

The contractor has completed roughly 6 miles of CR92 from the Chaparral General Store to the 11-Mile State Park Marina. The contractor is running their reclaimer that mills up the road base about a mile per day and is catching up to road base that was laid last week. They will begin final grading on CR92 and will be applying a top shot of magnesium. 

Timeline: The project began in May 2024 and is scheduled to conclude in September 2024.

  • 67,000 tons of gravel placed 
  • 437 road miles graded

District 1 

  • CR58, 60, 68, Burland Ranch, Friendship Ranch, Delwood 
  • Potholes – 115-ton asphalt

District 2

  • CR35,7 ,56 ,33 ,54 ,439, Buffalo subdivision, Arrowhead, Apache, Ute trace, Fitzsimmons 
  • Potholes – 45 tons asphalt

District 3

  • CR23, 53,102, Chaparral Road, 104,59,88 
  • Potholes -147 tons asphalt

District 4  

  • Ranch of the Rockies, Foxtail pines, Coil Placer, 6, Lower 4, 12,14,18 
  • Potholes – 60 tons asphalt

General Updates and Reminders

  • Working hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday  
  • Signs and construction devices will be present to alert the public to the closures and alternate routes 
  • Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change
