Immunizations

Immunizations

Vaccination is a simple and effective method of preventing diseases. Routine adult and childhood immunizations that prevent a variety of contagious diseases are offered at Park County Public Health at a low cost for uninsured children and adults. Park County Public Health offers vaccinations at scheduled clinics and by appointment. For information, clinic schedules or to schedule an appointment, you may complete this contact form or call 719-836-4174.

Fees

Under the Affordable Care Act preventive vaccines are now covered 100% with no deductible through most insurance plans. Park County Public health can bill a variety of insurances including Medicare and Medicaid. Please call 719-836-4174 and our RN can check your insurance coverage for specific vaccines.

We also administer the VFC (Vaccines for Children Program) and the 317 Vaccine Program that provide vaccines for uninsured or underinsured (insurance plan does not pay for vaccines) children and adults.

Flu Vaccine

The best way to prevent seasonal influenza, or the "flu," is to get a flu vaccination each fall. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness and, at times, can lead to death. In an effort to better protect the public, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends all children 6 months of age and older receive an annual influenza vaccine.

For additional information on flu vaccines, see Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Key Facts About the Flu Shot or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Flu Shot Questions and Answers.

Travel Vaccines

Park County Public Health carries a very limited number of travel immunizations. For comprehensive travel vaccine services, contact Jefferson County Public Health at (303) 232-6301 or Chaffee County Public Health at (719) 539-4510. Since most insurance plans, including Medicare, do not cover travel vaccines full payment will be required at the time of service. Please visit https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel for details.
